I was wondering if it would be possible to move the implementations of some of
the tools like TIFFMedian into some public functions that can be called
directly from software. It is desirable in our software to do 24 to 8 bit
conversions internally and calling a simple function in the TIFF library to to
the job would be very convenient.

Bugzilla is no longer used for tracking libtiff issues. Remaining open tickets,
such as this one, have been migrated to the libtiff GitLab instance at
https://gitlab.com/libtiff/libtiff/issues .

The migrated tickets have their summary prefixed with [BZ#XXXX] where XXXX is
the initial Bugzilla issue number.
