The "Chameleon 1.99 Installation Guide" needs to be completed. Included in this document will be installation instructions for both Linux and Windows. While the MS4W version will be mentioned, its installation instruction will be detailed in a separate MS4W document. This bug will be used to track the major tasks involved in completing this document. New bugs will be spawned off for each major task involved when that task comes up. Currently, the task list looks like: * Write initial draft (handled in this bug) * Review initial draft * Link appropriately with other 1.99 documents * Final edit * Final review
Changed target to 1.99 RC 1. While not all steps might be completed for RC 1, we need to get at least as far as a reviewed first draft.
Made little assigning error when creating bug. Added CC to compensate.
We also need to document the installation between Apache and IIS.
The installation Guide also will have to deal with the Admin Tool. This will cover very important information on: * Chameleon Config options: - Which will touch on the maturity level config options for Chameleon. * CWC2 Config options: - This will also touch the cwc2 sample/test url page in /cwc2/htdocs/index.phtml * making sure the corrent mapscript is installed. * phpinfo check that php is running * Apache/IIS checks and tips. * Help Viewer specific php dll's to be activated. This may also include notes on what is required for the Help Viewer to work. * Where to access the local sample application section /sample/htdocs/index.phtml
The installation Guide should make reference to the Admin User Guide (bug 831), during the installation steps.
The installation Guide should make reference to the CWC2 Service Instance User Guide (bug 829), during the installation steps. Setting bug dependancy on: bug 829 and bug 831
I have committed to CVS the first draft (DocBook source in docs/xml/, html version in docs/html) of this document. (name = InstallationGuide.xml/html) I took Chris's content suggestions into account in this draft, with the exception of Comment #4, which will be in the Admin Guide. I'll be making a separate bug to track the review of this document.
