This is a suggestion from Tyler Mitchell, > -"Chameleon Documentation" refs "/chameleon_html/" which isn't aliased, > but looks like the alias may be misnamed. "/chameleon_docs" alias > exists but aliases "..../chameleon/html". > > May I suggest standardizing on the usage of "demo" vs "sample" and > "html" vs "docs"- pick one or the other and use it throughout. I'll > gladly change my modified httpd confs but still don't know about the > sample/demo app. > He is right, I personally think it should be: "sample" -> Is an application that people can see the source code and using it as a learning tool. "demo" -> An application that demonstrates the functionality of chameleon, like "the Hawaii demo" and the Gomoos WMS demo. Demo are what can be found on own corporate website, Mapsherpa.com "html" -> could mean anything to none users of this technology. The term "html" means something to us internally, but is not obvious to other users. "docs" -> Should be documentation that is found with software. In Conclusion we should be calling web Aliases: "/chameleon_html/" as "/chameleon_docs/" "/chameleon_demo/" as "/chameleon_sample/" Other terminologies will be outlined for use to make things less confusing for the developer and end user.... I will be creating an internal Wiki about this, but this will be a start. Thanks
Chris, is this really an MS4W bug? Should I mark this as INVALID? what do u suggest?
I saw that "/chameleon/samples" is used instead of "/chameleon_demo". The only thing now is with "/chameleon/docs " that points to "/ms4w/apps/chameleon/docs/html".
this is a chameleon issue, not an ms4w issue. There should be an ms4w component in the chameleon product. The docs directory does not yet exist, it is going to be there as part of the final release.
moving to chameleon
This is related to the ms4w package of chameleon. The request to change the alias names for chameleon, is specific to ms4w. Paul may want to comment on this bug since no body did when I posted it.
opps, did not read all the comments. :) please ignore.
I think this is now resolved. I'll close and someone (Chris?) can verify.
