Format options are related to Outputformat objects like Metadata are related to Layers. To add a format option, you use the "Create New Object" menu and add one. It will then be displayed in the Outputformat object under the Format Options: heading. This behaviour is by design, so I am changing this to an enhancement request. Please outline an alternative user interface.
I would recomend having a button in the properties frame to add a new image type, (or MetaData for the metadata object). This button could always be in the properties view, and would be after existing image types. | image type one | | image type 2 | [+ add an image type] Another option would be to start out with a blank field in the interface which would more closely resemble other objects... I know that this is different because we are representing several objects in the same frame, but it might make sense from a user's perspective. | | [+ add an image type]
I didn't realize it was an object. I saw this field label without any text field area and I jumped to the conclusion that there was something missing here. And when I was executing this test in relation with the MapServer documentation and the format option is not considered as an object. I don't necessarily mean that the way it is working now is not correct. I mean creating a new format option by creating a new object under OutputFormat object. About Fred comments, tell me if I'm wrong, the image type you are talking is corresponding to the output format?
Additional comment: The format option is present into the object properties view but no format option object is present into the object browser view. Maybe it was why I supposed the format option was simply a text fiel area.
correction to my previous comment. I was refering to the format option object, not the image type object... so the button would be [+ add format optuion]
